Un-Burying Life.

Between episodes of ‘Jersey Shore’ and ‘Teen Mom’, we know that MTV is not known for airing the most tasteful shows (or much music, for that matter). One day though, I happened upon a show called ‘The Buried Life’, and it had me questioning my life in the best way possible. For those of you still out of the loop, ‘The Buried Life’ is a reality show about four guys who decided they wanted to take the road less traveled and complete their bucket list. From participating in a Krump ...

Submission and Comtempt

Submission
He scanned the room searching for a victim, a hostage. I tried to make myself as small as possible yet somehow his eyes still found me.
“Hey you, in the suit” he called out, the fear I felt before was nothing compared to what I as feeling right now. My heart raced erratically as I pointed to myself hand shaking. I imagine I looked like a deer caught in headlights my eyes wide with fear.
“Yeah you, get over here” he waved me over with his gun hand. ...

Demontra High Chapater One part Two

RINGGGGG Thank the gods its the bell thought Miyako, as she was saying thanks Headmistress Dawn Spire walked into the room. The headmistress had had to be one of the most beautiful vampires Miyako had ever seen. She was tall, almost six foot, with platinum blond hair and the body of a model you would never had guessed she was almost 400 years old! But she was, she was also she was one of the only reasons Miyako had decided to even go back ...

At .500 … This Week

After going winless since the season opener, the boys varsity baseball team was hungry for a win. Facing Depew, Jon Klein looked to lead the Warriors to victory. Klein dominated, only giving up one run in seven innings. With the lead at 3-0, coach McGill preached for insurance. And thats exactly what Alex Rosenberg gave them, in the form of the most awkward swing imaginable. Alex corralled a pitch up around his eyes and laced it to left field. A stutter-step from Depew’s left fielder was all he needed to ...

Empowering Central

Each year since 1998, the freshman class goes through a workshop (currently organized by Ms. Pastore and Mr. Federick) called “Empowerment”. Dictionary.com defines the verb ‘empower’ as “to enable or permit”. And that is exactly what the program is meant to do- to enable the students of CCHS to become the change they want to see in their school. So now that we now what empowerment means, let’s discover what it specifically means to our school. And to do that, we look to Ms. Fatima- the meat and potatoes of ...

A Tough Stretch

Well, this past week has been a tough one. The week consisted of 4 league games against Maryvale, East Aurora, Pioneer and Springville and one non-leaguer against Williamsville South. The boy’s varsity baseball team lost each of these games as the rough stretch continued. With some lopsided results (17-0 to E.A. and 12-4 to Pioneer), it’s tough to look at the positives of the week, but with every sport, the scores don’t tell you everything.
The boys started out against Maryvale with a gut wrenching loss to the cross-town rivals with ...

CCHS Basebal: Our First Week

Well, last week, the Cheektowaga Varsity baseball team opened their season at home against Springville. And they opened it in grand fashion. Senior Jon Klein led the team to a 3-0 win, pitching a complete game, striking out thirteen and only allowing two hits. Capping off the night were some big hits from both Klein and senior Frank Mancuso, both leading to the winning runs.
Next, Cheektowaga set their eyes on Amherst, looking for their second win of the season. This game however, did not go as planned. With senior Corey ...

My Infinity

By: Wes Schneider
My eyes glare into the clear glass mirror
The glass seems as if its fading, falling, cracking.
My eyes gaze into the time engulfing past
Watching as the thoughts fall one by one.
My heart pounds and aches like a drum
Over and over I see them looking at me.
Their eyes pierce my soul, my heart , my dreams
Their memory pierces my life like a blade.
I put out my hand and wave them away
But my heart pounds and brings them back to life.
I embrace my chest with will
I embrace my life by its horns
I am ...

Silent Protest

Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day o Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence face by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people and their allies in schools. My deliberate silence echos that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the silence?
- Day of Silence motto
