Klang, Klang, Klang! The clock’s ominous ring rang through the hall, piercing Ella’s ears as she raced toward the grand stair case. She could hear the heavy pound of footsteps not far behind her.

seven was the lucky number
that titled the adventure we looked forward to
two girls and five boys and supervised by the love of our early maker
we continued the night
drowning in the sea of wrestling and football
fights and laughter
and full meals to fill our hearts with satisfaction
then some stories to end the night
