Exam Overload?

9 March 2010 No Comment

Everyone in our school feels some sort of pressure to do well, unless you’re a drop out or use school as an excuse to catch up on some sleep. But how much pressure is too much?

Each teacher expects us to do our best, which the majority of us do. Also, each teacher expects us to study and know the material. Which we also attempt to do, but how much can each teacher expect us to know everything for each class? There’s only so much a kid can study for. It isn’t terrible all the time since tests are usually pretty spaced out throughout the week. Right? Yes! But how hard is it when we lose just that?

It turns out very. As most of the high school students experienced many tests in a row earlier in the year such as:
Chem, global, english, math, and more depending on which courses you may take.
Talk about overload! Many students have complained about this, and it’s the truth. It’s just too much material to study for all at once.

But luckily, many teachers have offered chances to redeem your grades through test retakes or corrections. So, if you didn’t do so hot on a test or two maybe  you should check up on these opportunities. Not just now, but throughout the year as well. They’re extremely helpful and can always raise your grade those extra few points.

Even better, a few teachers have recognized this. Some are promising to try and have their tests on different days than other teachers. That will definitely give people some breathing room. But still, don’t forget studying can actually help you.

Student Cohen Sulzbach has outwardly complained on this matter saying: “I have a Chem test, Global test, Spanish test, and Math test all in a row!”

Many students have agreed with this statement in exasperation at the amount of studying ahead of them. Mr. Huber (the Chemistry teacher) will usually move around test dates so his tests won’t clash with another teacher’s. It’s helped his second period chemistry class a ton. Maybe some other teachers will be willing to try this in the future?
