The English 11 Exam! How Stressed are You?
I went to a few of the Cheektowaga students that are in eleventh grade with a few questions. I asked some very basic questions regarding how they feel about the Exam that is coming up next week. The questions that I asked we’re directed toward four students that I found in the hallway and in my lunch. I had many questions.
The first person I interviewed was Katie Dentice. She had some very good answers to my questions. Katie said “I am a little stressed because I hate how they put two of the hardest Exam in the same day. You can’t really study for it unless you write constantly. I thank Mrs. Drzewiecki because she helped me with understanding the literary elements. Also Mr. Malley and Mrs. McCleary helped me in the past few years. I am struggling with multiple choice, but it helps if you do go back and read the passage more than once. I’m not really struggling, but in class I’m not trying as hard as I would if it were the real thing. I won’t be ready ’til the day of the exam.”
The second person I interviewed was Scott Chiari. His replies were very short and straight to the point. Scott stated ”I am very stressed. The most troubling thing about studying for it is remembering all the techniques. The best teacher to help me was Mr. Malley. I am struggling the most on the essays…because I have a hard time concentrating. I will never be ready.”
The third person I interviewed was Bradley Vargo. Bradley said “I am not that stressed. Honestly. I think that you can’t really study for the exam. I think Mrs. Austin is a great help to me for studying. I am struggling with taking notes. I’m not struggling with anything too important. I am ready right now to take the exam.”
The fourth and final person I interviewed was Chris Suchan. His answers to the questions were honest and short. Chris stated ”I am so-so, not to stressed but not empty minded about the exam. You honestly can’t really study for the exam as it’s mostly just skills you learned through out life. I think all of the teachers help in their own way even if they don’t realize it. I am not struggling at all. I am always prepared to take the exam at any time.”
So all in all it is a fifty-fifty on who is ready and who isn’t ready for the exam. But I know when the time comes, all of the eleventh graders will be ready to give it their all. Trying their hardest will be difficult, but if given the right motivation anyone can do good if they know someone believes in them. I know that always helps me, so maybe it could be something someone could try and test out.
